Whether you were the one getting married, or been the supportive friend/family member, chances are you have been to or at least heard of bridal shows.

They can be quite overwhelming for some, hundreds of vendors asking questions about your wedding, a lot of information and prices being presented to you, while lights and music blast in the background. It’s a lot. One way to reduce all the “noise” is to plan ahead and come prepared!

Ways to be prepared:

  1. Come ready with questions
    1. Have questions in mind that you would like to ask vendors to make an easier decision. If you are looking for a photographer for example, ask what packages are offered, or if your wedding date is available. If you don’t have a date set yet, ask how far in advance do they suggest you book them to ensure they are available for your future date.

Having pre-planned questions will ensure you get all the information needed to make informed decisions.

  1. Bring a support person
    1. Whether that is your mom, mother in law, your bridesmaids, or your fiance, bring someone that you trust to help make decisions. Even the most prepared people can get overwhelmed at bridal shows. Be careful on bringing a large group with you, unless you want hear all of their opinions
  1. Keep note of the vendors you like
    1. The day will go by in a flash. And before you know it, you have 20+ business cards and loads of information. It might be difficult to remember which vendors stood out to you. Bring a notepad or write in a notes app of the vendors that made an impression on you and are interested in reaching out to later.
  1. Create a dedicated wedding email
    1. After the show and ongoing planning, you are going to receive tons of emails. Set up a “wedding only” email address or create a separate folder to help manage wedding relevant emails. This will make it easier to filter through and locate important information.
  1. Comfort is key
    1. Regardless of the size of the show, you will be on your feet all day and walking A LOT. Opt for casual but comfortable shoes that you can wear all day. Bringing a small tote or crossbody bag is also good to remain hands free, to grab all the brochures you need.
  1. Keep the day fun
    1. Remember, planning your wedding is meant to be fun. So make a girls day or day date out of it. Get brunch or visit your favorite coffee shop before the show. Or debrief about the show over dinner. Anything you enjoy doing!
