As a wedding planner who recently got married, I have a few tips I wanted to share with you on just the basics of planning! I’m Elizabeth also known as Liz, I work with Imagine Events as a wedding planner for the Yorkton area.

I’ve learned from personal experience, as I’ve been crazy enough to plan my own wedding not once, but twice! When it comes to planning a wedding, it’s best if you try and plan ahead as much as possible! Specifically about the basic details. Really think about how you want your wedding to be. When do you plan on having it? Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter? What are the things that really matter most to you? Is it the venue, the food, the reception, the photography, the music, all the other little things, or maybe its everything?

Then set yourself a budget that you are comfortable with and go from there. When you plan ahead to can also start saving in advance! If you come across anything you really love and it’s a must have for your wedding, book it. If you hesitate and wait, it might be gone, or booked up by someone else. There’s also nothing wrong with getting things paid ahead of time, just make sure you keep track of what you have paid for.

Start putting together your thoughts and put your ideas into action! Do some research by searching the web, Pinterest, Facebook, bridal magazines, etc. There are so many options out there now. If you are hands on like I was, you could also buy yourself some wedding planning books, download a wedding planning app and if all else fails and you are completely out of your element and losing your mind or just want to ease some wedding stress, hire a wedding planner.

As a wedding planner myself, I figured I didn’t need any help. Turns out, the wedding planner also sometimes needs a wedding planner! Someone to help you, who knows what they are doing and also has a passion for weddings.
